My other Mother
My mother-in-law, Cyd Marilyn Carr-Smith, passed away April 13th, 2008 after a difficult battle with cancer. I will post her obituary below but I wanted to write something very quickly about her. The first time I met my mother-in-law she jumped into the hall way where I was waiting for Dyan and said, "I am Cyd, Dyan's madre. Madre is Spanish for mother.", and then did a little jump leg kick into the next room. Little did I know that this would be the woman that I look forward to be associated with forever in this life and through all eternity. I grew to understand how much I loved her when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer in November just shy of two years after being originally diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought a good fight for over two years but finally decided that she could not put off the call coming from the other side of the veil and so she physically left us on Sunday evening. I remember telling Dyan after I spent some more time with her mom that I was amazed how her eyes sparkled the way they did. Those beautiful eyes sparkeled till the end and we will love her forever. I love you mom and can't wait to see the beautiful spirits you send our way. I will always be your hijo... Thats Spanish for son.
